Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) solution as per WHO low-osmolarity formula (approx. per 1 L: Glucose anhydrous 13.5 g, Sodium chloride 2.6 g, Potassium chloride 1.5 g, Trisodium citrate dihydrate 2.9 g); RTD orange-flavoured.
Prevention and treatment of dehydration due to diarrhoea (including acute gastroenteritis), vomiting, heat/exertion-related dehydration, and fluid/electrolyte loss.
ORS provides an optimal balance of glucose and electrolytes that enhances sodium and water absorption in the intestine via sodium-glucose co-transport. This helps replace lost fluids and correct electrolyte imbalance during diarrhoea or vomiting.
Ready-to-drink oral solution. Shake well before use. Sip frequently in small amounts; can be taken with or without food. After opening, keep refrigerated and use within 24 hours (or as per label). In ongoing diarrhoea, continue feeding/breastfeeding and take ORS after each loose stool as advised by a doctor.
Nausea, abdominal bloating, vomiting (if taken too quickly), unpleasant taste
Use with caution in severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, reduced urination, high fever, blood in stool, severe abdominal pain, or signs of shock—seek urgent medical care. Caution in kidney disease, heart failure, severe electrolyte disorders, or patients on sodium/potassium-restricted diets. Do not dilute if it is an RTD formulation (follow label). Do not use if pack is leaking, swollen, or solution looks contaminated.
No major drug interactions expected. Use caution with medicines affecting potassium/sodium balance (ACE inhibitors/ARBs, potassium-sparing diuretics like spironolactone, potassium supplements) and in patients on strict sodium restriction.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. After opening, refrigerate and consume within 24 hours (or as per pack instructions).
