Used for hyperkeratotic and scaly skin conditions such as psoriasis, chronic eczema, ichthyosis, keratosis pilaris, calluses/corns, and thickened dry skin; helps soften and remove scales.
How It Works
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent that breaks down keratin and loosens the bonds between dead skin cells. This helps soften, dissolve and shed thickened/scaly skin and improves penetration of other topical medicines.
Directions for Use
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer once or twice daily or as directed by a doctor. Avoid applying on large body areas or under occlusion unless prescribed; wash hands after use.
Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, mucosa and broken/oozing skin. Do not use on large areas, for prolonged periods, or under airtight dressings without medical advice due to risk of salicylate toxicity (especially in children). Use with caution in children, people with renal impairment, or those allergic to salicylates. Stop and seek medical advice if severe irritation, blistering, or symptoms of salicylism (ringing in ears, dizziness, nausea) occur.
Drug Interactions
Increased irritation with other topical keratolytics/retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene), benzoyl peroxide, topical steroids (enhanced absorption), abrasive soaps/alcohol-based products; may increase absorption of other topical medicines applied at same site.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep the tube tightly closed. Protect from heat and excessive moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
