Management of osteoarthritis-related pain and inflammation, adjunct in liver disorders (e.g., cholestasis/fatty liver) as hepatoprotective, adjunct in depressive symptoms (as prescribed)
S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) is a naturally occurring methyl donor involved in synthesis of neurotransmitters and phospholipids. It may help reduce pain and improve joint function in osteoarthritis and supports liver cell membrane function and bile flow in certain cholestatic conditions.
Tablet (OD/once daily): take as prescribed, preferably on an empty stomach (30–60 minutes before food) with water; swallow whole, do not crush/chew. Follow duration advised by the doctor.
Nausea, stomach upset, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, sweating
Use with caution in bipolar disorder/mania (may trigger manic episodes). Use caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to limited safety data. If you have Parkinson’s disease, severe anxiety/insomnia, or are on antidepressants, consult a doctor before use. Seek medical help if you develop severe mood changes or allergic symptoms.
