Shake well before use. Measure dose with a cup/spoon and take as advised by a doctor. Can be taken with or without food; if it upsets the stomach, take after food. Do not exceed the recommended dose; avoid use in young children unless prescribed.

Exact warnings depend on ingredients. Many cough/cold syrups can cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery. Use with caution in glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, asthma/COPD, liver disease, and in elderly patients. Do not use with other cough/cold products containing similar ingredients to avoid overdose. Seek medical advice if cough persists >7 days, is recurrent, or is accompanied by high fever, rash, wheezing, or blood in sputum.
Alcohol (increases drowsiness), other CNS depressants (sedatives, opioids), MAO inhibitors and some antidepressants (if formulation contains dextromethorphan/chlorpheniramine), antihistamines/anticholinergics (additive effects)
