Uses & Benefits
Treatment and prevention of Vitamin D deficiency, nutritional rickets/osteomalacia, adjunct in osteoporosis and bone health support, supplementation in people with low sun exposure or increased needs
How It Works
Cholecalciferol is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. This helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and supports bone mineralization and muscle function.
Directions for Use
Oral drops: Use the measured dropper as directed by a doctor. Can be given directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of milk/water/food; preferably after food. Do not exceed the recommended dose, especially in infants/children.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite, stomach upset, headache, increased thirst, increased urination
Warnings & Precautions
Use with caution in hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Overdose can cause high calcium levels leading to weakness, confusion, vomiting and kidney problems—seek medical help if suspected. Monitor calcium/vitamin D levels if using high doses or long term. Keep out of reach of children.
Drug Interactions
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), corticosteroids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesemia in renal impairment)
