Treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency, supportive therapy in osteoporosis/osteopenia, calcium and bone health support
Vitamin D3 increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and helps maintain normal blood calcium levels. It supports bone mineralization and muscle function, reducing risk of deficiency-related bone problems.
Take orally as directed by physician. Commonly 1 tablet/capsule once daily (or as prescribed); may be taken with food (preferably after meals) to enhance absorption. Do not exceed recommended dose without medical advice.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, weakness, increased thirst, increased urination
Use with caution in hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Avoid taking multiple vitamin D supplements concurrently unless advised. Monitor serum calcium/vitamin D levels if on high-dose or long-term therapy. Seek medical help if signs of high calcium occur (persistent nausea, confusion, excessive thirst/urination).
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), corticosteroids (reduced absorption/effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), antacids containing magnesium in renal impairment (hypermagnesemia risk)
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
