Contains: Tacrolimus (0.1% w/w)
Tacroz Forte Ointment contains Tacrolimus (0.1% w/w) and is used for atopic dermatitis. Prescription required.
Tacroz Forte Ointment is a prescription medicine containing Tacrolimus (0.1% w/w). It is used for atopic dermatitis. It belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroid / calcineurin inhibitor.
This medicine is for external use only. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Tacroz Forte Ointment are burning or stinging, thinning of the skin, stretch marks and acne. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Tacroz Forte Ointment works.
Treatment of Atopic dermatitis
Most side effects of Tacroz Forte are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.
Tacroz Forte Ointment is an immunosuppressant. It works by suppressing the activity of certain immune cells that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin. This relieves itching and improves rashes in atopic dermatitis.
Use it only on the area and for the number of days your doctor specified. Potent steroid creams thin the skin permanently when used for too long. Never use a potent steroid cream on the face, the groin or the underarms unless your doctor has specifically told you to — the skin there is thin and absorbs much more. Do not use it on an infection. A steroid on ringworm, impetigo or herpes makes the infection worse while hiding it. Do not use leftover cream on a new rash, and never pass it to someone else. Stop and see your doctor if the area becomes more painful, weepy or crusted.
If you miss a dose of Tacroz Forte Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.
An overdose of this medicine can suppress the body's own steroid production when it is used for a long time over large areas, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
No significant interactions are expected from preparations used on the skin.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
