Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with dual therapy; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events associated with uncontrolled hypertension.
Telmisartan blocks angiotensin II (ARB) causing blood vessels to relax and lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that removes excess salt and water, further reducing blood pressure.
Take as prescribed by a doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water; can be taken with or without food. Do not stop suddenly; monitor blood pressure regularly.
Dizziness, headache, ankle swelling (edema), flushing, increased urination, fatigue, nausea, low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/sodium), increased uric acid
Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 2nd/3rd trimester). Use caution in kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, heart failure, or aortic stenosis. Hydrochlorothiazide may cause electrolyte disturbances and increased uric acid; monitor electrolytes, kidney function and blood glucose. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Inform doctor if you have gout, diabetes, or history of angioedema.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), NSAIDs (may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (toxicity risk), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics or salt substitutes (hyperkalemia risk with telmisartan), ACE inhibitors/aliskiren (higher risk of kidney impairment and hyperkalemia; avoid in diabetes), corticosteroids (electrolyte loss), digoxin (electrolyte changes may increase arrhythmia risk), alcohol (increased dizziness)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
