Tablet
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single-drug therapy is inadequate; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events associated with uncontrolled BP.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II effects, lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and BP. The combination provides additive BP control.
Tablet for oral use. Take once daily as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
dizziness, low blood pressure, increased urination, headache, fatigue, nausea, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/sodium), increased uric acid, increased creatinine
Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus); use caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration, low blood pressure, heart failure, diabetes, and gout. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Monitor BP, kidney function (creatinine), and electrolytes (potassium/sodium). Risk of photosensitivity with hydrochlorothiazide; use sun protection. Seek care for severe dizziness, fainting, swelling/angioedema, or markedly reduced urine output.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium toxicity), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics/salt substitutes (hyperkalemia risk with telmisartan), diuretics or laxatives (electrolyte imbalance), steroids (hypokalemia risk), antidiabetic medicines (may alter glucose control), alcohol (increased dizziness), digoxin (telmisartan may increase levels)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
