Tranexa Tablet

Tranexa Tablet contains Tranexamic acid 500 mg (tablet). Prescription required.

Treatment and prevention of bleeding due to excessive fibrinolysis such as heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), bleeding after dental procedures in haemophilia, nosebleeds, and other minor surgical/traumatic bleeding as prescribed

Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic that blocks the binding of plasminogen to fibrin, preventing formation of plasmin. This stabilizes blood clots and reduces ongoing bleeding.

Take by mouth as directed by a physician. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food; taking with food may reduce stomach upset. Dose and duration depend on the bleeding condition (e.g., for heavy menstrual bleeding it is typically taken only during bleeding days).

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, back pain, nasal congestion

Do not use in active intravascular clotting, history of thrombosis/thromboembolism unless advised by doctor, or with subarachnoid haemorrhage. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment needed) and in patients with risk factors for blood clots. Seek urgent care for chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling, sudden vision changes or severe headache. Avoid use for hematuria from upper urinary tract (risk of ureteral obstruction by clots).

Combined hormonal contraceptives (increased thrombosis risk), procoagulant/anti-inhibitor concentrates (e.g., factor IX complex, activated prothrombin complex), thrombolytics (opposing effects), other antifibrinolytics

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
