Symptomatic relief of cough associated with common cold/upper respiratory tract infections (exact formulation-dependent).

Depends on the ingredients. Cough syrups may work by thinning and loosening mucus (expectorants), suppressing the cough reflex (antitussives), relieving airway spasm (bronchodilators) and/or reducing allergy-related symptoms (antihistamines).

Shake well before use. Measure dose with a cup/spoon; take as advised by a doctor. Can be taken with or without food. Do not exceed the recommended dose; avoid combining with other cough/cold products unless advised.

Drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, headache, allergic reactions (rash)

Formulation unknown—check label for exact ingredients and precautions. Many cough syrups can cause drowsiness—avoid driving/alcohol if sleepy. Use with caution in children, elderly, asthma/COPD, liver disease, kidney disease, glaucoma, prostate enlargement/urinary retention. Seek medical advice if cough persists >7 days, is accompanied by high fever, wheezing, chest pain, blood in sputum, or in pregnancy/breastfeeding.

May interact with alcohol and other CNS depressants (sedatives, sleeping pills, opioids), MAO inhibitors and some antidepressants (if contains dextromethorphan/antihistamine), other anticholinergic medicines, and other cough/cold preparations with overlapping ingredients.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
