How does this medicine work?
Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation of bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and intestinal absorption. It also improves bile flow and protects liver cells from toxic bile acids in cholestatic conditions.
How should I use this medicine?
Tablet (sustained release): take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily after food or with meals; swallow whole with water—do not crush, chew, or break. Duration is often long-term (months); follow-up with ultrasound/liver function tests as advised.
