Traditionally used for relief in cough (including productive cough), chest congestion, common cold-related throat irritation; supportive care in bronchitis-like symptoms and mild respiratory tract infections

Vasaka contains alkaloids such as vasicine that help loosen and expel mucus (expectorant) and may ease bronchial spasm (bronchodilatory effect). It also has soothing and anti-inflammatory actions on the respiratory tract, which can reduce irritation and coughing.

Oral tablet. Take as directed on the label or by a physician; commonly taken after food with water. Do not exceed recommended dose; if symptoms persist beyond a few days, seek medical advice.

Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, allergic reaction (rare)

Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor (vasaka/vasicine may affect uterine tone). Consult a doctor before use in children, in people with chronic lung disease/asthma requiring regular medicines, liver/kidney disease, or if cough persists >1 week, is recurrent, or is accompanied by fever, breathlessness, chest pain, blood in sputum. Stop use and seek care if rash, swelling, or severe GI symptoms occur.

May have additive effects with other cough/expectorant or bronchodilator medicines; caution with medicines that affect uterine contractions (pregnancy-related). Clinically significant interactions are not well established; consult a doctor if taking multiple medicines.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
