What is this medicine used for?
Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in gout (to lower elevated uric acid levels and prevent gout flares). Not for treatment of acute gout attack.

Gout flare at start of therapy, nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, rash, abnormal liver function tests
How does this medicine work?
Febuxostat is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It reduces formation of uric acid in the body, thereby lowering serum urate levels and helping prevent urate crystal deposition and gout attacks over time.
How should I use this medicine?
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Continue regularly even if you feel well; gout flare prophylaxis (e.g., colchicine/NSAID) may be advised when starting. Do not use to treat an acute gout attack.
How should I store this medicine?
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and light. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
