Monograph
Capsule
Prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in patients at risk; management of high cholesterol (dyslipidemia/hypercholesterolemia) with antiplatelet protection when prescribed.
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol synthesis and lowering LDL while improving lipid profile. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet COX‑1, reducing thromboxane A2 and thereby decreasing platelet aggregation to prevent clot formation.
Take as advised by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time. Swallow capsule whole with water; may be taken with or without food. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
Headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach upset/heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation, muscle pain, weakness, increased liver enzymes, easy bruising/bleeding
Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent rise in liver enzymes. Risk of muscle injury (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis)—seek care for muscle pain, tenderness or dark urine. Aspirin can cause gastrointestinal irritation/ulcer/bleeding; use caution in patients with history of peptic ulcer, bleeding disorders, uncontrolled hypertension or asthma sensitive to NSAIDs. Avoid in children/teens with viral infections (Reye’s syndrome risk). Inform doctor before surgery/dental procedures due to bleeding risk.
Warfarin/other anticoagulants, clopidogrel/other antiplatelets, NSAIDs (ibuprofen/naproxen), corticosteroids, SSRIs/SNRIs (bleeding risk), methotrexate, cyclosporine, protease inhibitors, gemfibrozil/other fibrates, niacin, ezetimibe, colchicine, antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (may reduce rosuvastatin absorption if taken together)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
