How to choose
Check the label for at least 60% alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol); 70% is common. Lower alcohol or 'alcohol-free' sanitisers are less reliable against germs. Gel or liquid, either works. A moisturising ingredient like glycerin or aloe reduces dryness if you sanitise often. Use a palmful, rub over all surfaces, fingertips and between fingers for about 20 seconds until dry. Choose a pack size that suits your use, and keep away from flames; sanitiser is flammable.
Who really needs this
Useful when travelling, in hospitals and clinics, before meals away from a sink, and for caregivers. Soap and water is better when hands are visibly dirty or greasy, after using the toilet and after handling food. Keep bottles out of reach of young children, since swallowing alcohol-based gel is dangerous.
