Algesic 1000 mg Tablet is used for relief of mild to moderate pain and reduction of fever (e.g., headache, body ache, toothache, musculoskeletal pain, fever with cold/flu).
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
If this product contains paracetamol (acetaminophen), it works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, which reduces pain and lowers fever. It has minimal anti-inflammatory action compared to NSAIDs.
Take by mouth with water. Commonly taken after food if it causes stomach upset. Follow the dose as advised by a doctor; do not exceed the maximum recommended daily dose stated on the label, especially if the product contains paracetamol.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Algesic as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Algesic than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Algesic are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Do not exceed recommended dose; overdose (especially with paracetamol) can cause severe liver damage. Use with caution in liver disease, chronic alcoholism, malnutrition, severe kidney disease, and in elderly. Avoid taking multiple medicines containing the same ingredient (e.g., other paracetamol-containing cold/flu products). Stop and seek medical help if allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty) occur.
Alcohol (increases liver toxicity risk if paracetamol-containing), warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk with regular paracetamol use), isoniazid or other hepatotoxic drugs (increased liver risk), enzyme inducers like phenytoin/carbamazepine/rifampicin (may increase liver toxicity risk)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
