Composition of Ambrozed Syrup

Ambrozed Syrup contains Guaiphenesin (50mg/5ml) + Terbutaline (1.25mg/5ml) + Ambroxol (15mg/5ml) + Menthol (0.5mg/5ml). It belongs to the Mucolytic (Ambroxol - bromhexine metabolite) class of medicines.

How Ambrozed Syrup works

How to take Ambrozed Syrup

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe drowsiness, a racing heart and, with codeine, dangerously slow breathing. It is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing these preparations can be serious, particularly in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Do not use if allergic to ambroxol or any ingredient. Use with caution in patients with stomach ulcers, severe liver/kidney disease, or bronchial asthma (may increase expectoration). Seek medical help if rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, severe skin reactions, or worsening symptoms occur. If cough persists >7 days, is recurrent, or is accompanied by fever, wheezing, chest pain, or blood in sputum, consult a doctor. Not a substitute for antibiotics when bacterial infection is present.

Do not take Ambrozed if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Codeine-containing preparations are not for children, or for anyone with breathing difficulty. Not for use on broken, infected or badly inflamed skin.

Interactions with other medicines

May increase lung concentrations of some antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, doxycycline). Avoid combining with cough suppressants (e.g., codeine, dextromethorphan) unless prescribed, as it may hinder mucus clearance.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
