Amikacin 100 mg injection (as amikacin sulfate)
Treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including complicated urinary tract infections, septicemia, respiratory tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin/soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections; also used in hospital settings for neonatal sepsis and other severe Gram-negative infections as per culture sensitivity.
Amikacin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It binds irreversibly to the 30S bacterial ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and causing bacterial cell death. It is bactericidal, especially against many aerobic Gram-negative bacteria.
For intravenous infusion or intramuscular injection only; to be administered by a healthcare professional. Dose is individualized by body weight, age, kidney function and infection severity; typically given in 1–2 divided doses or as once-daily dosing per clinician. Monitor renal function and drug levels when indicated; maintain adequate hydration.

Prescription-only injectable antibiotic. Risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity (may be irreversible); higher risk with prolonged therapy, high doses, elderly, dehydration, and pre-existing kidney/hearing problems. Use with caution in renal impairment—dose adjustment and monitoring required. May cause neuromuscular blockade/respiratory depression; caution in myasthenia gravis, Parkinsonism, or with anesthetics. Not effective for viral infections; use based on culture/sensitivity whenever possible.
