Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Ampilox-Lb Capsule contains Ampicillin (250mg) + Dicloxacillin (250mg) + Lactobacillus (60Million spores).
Bacterial infections
Ampilox-LB Capsule is a combination of three medicines: Ampicillin, Dicloxacillin, and Lactobacillus. Ampicillin and Dicloxacillin are antibiotics which work by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering that is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Together, they eradicate your infection effectively. Lactobacillus is a live microorganism which restores the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset with antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Ampilox-LB Capsule may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Ampilox-LB Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Ampilox-Lb than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Ampilox-Lb are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Ampilox-Lb. Some combinations can change how Ampilox-Lb works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Ampilox-Lb below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Ampilox-LB Capsule is given to treat a bacterial infection. It is better to take it when your stomach is empty, which means taking your doses one hour before you eat any food, or waiting until two hours afterward. This is because the food might decrease or delay the absorption of Ampilox-LB Capsule. If you are taking any contraceptive 'pill' at the same time as this antibiotic, the effectiveness of the 'pill' can be reduced if you have a bout of being sick (vomiting) which lasts for more than 24 hours. In such a case, ask your doctor for additional contraceptive precautions. Ampilox-LB Capsule can reduce the effectiveness of oral typhoid vaccine. If you are due to have any vaccinations, make sure the person treating you knows that you are taking this antibiotic.
