A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Azithral Kidtab Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Azithral Kidtab Tablet contains Azithromycin (100mg).
Treatment of Bacterial infections
Azithral KidTab is an antibiotic. It works by interfering with the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform important functions. By doing so, it stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading.
Take the missed dose of Azithral Kidtab as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Azithral Kidtab than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Azithral Kidtab are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Azithral Kidtab. Some combinations can change how Azithral Kidtab works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Azithral Kidtab below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Your child must complete the entire course of this medicine. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Give Azithral KidTab with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Azithral KidTab will not be effective for viral infections. However, the doctor may prescribe this medicine in case of a secondary bacterial infection. So make sure to speak to your child’s doctor first. Only give Azithral KidTab to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop the medicine and contact the doctor immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, and breathing difficulties soon after the intake.
