How Azitus 250 mg Tablet works

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This prevents growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria, helping clear the infection.

How to take Azitus 250 mg Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Can be taken with or without food; taking after food may reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water and complete the full course even if you feel better; do not skip doses.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Azitus 250mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Use with caution in elderly and in patients on QT-prolonging medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption—separate dosing), warfarin/other anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk—monitor INR), digoxin (increased levels), ciclosporin (increased levels), QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, quinidine, some antipsychotics/fluoroquinolones), ergot derivatives (avoid), nelfinavir (increased azithromycin exposure)
