Cefuroxime (250mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125mg)
Cefakind Cv 250 is used for treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis/pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Cefakind Cv 250 contains Cefuroxime (250mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125mg). It belongs to the Second-generation cephalosporin + beta-lactamase inhibitor class of medicines.
Cefuroxime (a cephalosporin antibiotic) kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefuroxime from enzymatic degradation, helping it work against beta-lactamase–producing bacteria.
Take as prescribed by the doctor. For tablets, take preferably after food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew. Complete the full course even if you feel better.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Cefakind-CV 250 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Cefakind Cv than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Do not use if allergic to cefuroxime/cephalosporins; use caution in patients with penicillin allergy (cross-reactivity possible). Use with caution in kidney disease; dose adjustment may be needed. Prolonged use may cause superinfection (e.g., fungal) and antibiotic-associated diarrhoea/C. difficile; seek care for severe/persistent diarrhoea. Monitor for severe allergic reactions (swelling, breathing difficulty) and severe skin reactions. Inform doctor if you have liver disease or history of colitis.
Probenecid (increases cefuroxime levels), anticoagulants like warfarin (may increase bleeding risk/INR), methotrexate (reduced clearance/toxicity risk), oral contraceptives (reduced effectiveness possible with severe diarrhoea/vomiting), antacids/H2 blockers/PPIs (may reduce cefuroxime absorption), aminoglycosides/loop diuretics (increased risk of kidney effects)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
You have been prescribed this combination medicine to treat bacterial infections, even if they have developed resistance. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat. Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Cefakind-CV 250 Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it. Do not use leftover medicine for treating any infection in the future. Always consult your doctor before taking any antibiotic.
