Composition of Donibiz 10 Tablet

Donibiz 10 Tablet contains Donepezil. It belongs to the Anti-dementia / anti-parkinsonian agent class of medicines.

Uses of Donibiz 10 Tablet

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Dementia
  • Parkinson's disease

Benefits of Donibiz 10 Tablet

In Alzheimer's disease
Donibiz supports the brain's memory chemistry, which can steady memory, thinking and daily functioning for a time. It slows the effects of the disease rather than reversing them.
In Dementia
Donibiz helps maintain attention, memory and the ability to manage daily tasks for longer in dementia.
In Parkinson's disease
Donibiz replaces or mimics the dopamine the brain is losing, easing the stiffness, slowness and tremor of Parkinson's so movement is freer.

How Donibiz 10 Tablet works

Donepezil supports the chemical messengers in the brain that control memory, attention and movement.

How to take Donibiz 10 Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it at exactly the times prescribed. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe confusion, abnormal movements, a very slow pulse and collapse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Donibiz 10 Tablet

Most side effects of Donibiz are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:

  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loose motions
  • Dizziness
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Involuntary movements

Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Never stop a Parkinson's medicine suddenly — this can cause a severe and dangerous deterioration. Dose timing matters a great deal in Parkinson's disease. Take it at exactly the times prescribed. Report sudden daytime sleep attacks, hallucinations, or new gambling, spending or other impulsive behaviour — these are recognised effects and the dose may need review. Rise slowly from sitting or lying; a drop in blood pressure on standing is common.

Do not take Donibiz if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart, eye or psychiatric conditions.

Interactions with other medicines

Anti-emetics such as metoclopramide and some antipsychotics can worsen Parkinson's symptoms. High-protein meals can reduce the absorption of levodopa — ask your doctor about timing.

How to store Donibiz 10 Tablet

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
