Doxepin 25 mg (as doxepin hydrochloride) capsule
Depression, anxiety disorders (including mixed anxiety-depression); also used for insomnia (as prescribed)
Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant that increases the levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain to improve mood and reduce anxiety. It also has strong antihistamine (H1-blocking) activity which can cause sedation.
Take by mouth as advised by the doctor, usually once daily (often at bedtime due to drowsiness) or in divided doses. Can be taken with or without food; swallow capsule whole with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of DOXBRIN 25MG CAP may include:
May cause sedation—avoid driving/operating machinery. Risk of suicidal thoughts especially in young adults early in treatment; monitor mood changes. Use caution in glaucoma, urinary retention/prostatic hypertrophy, heart disease/arrhythmias, seizures, liver impairment, and elderly (falls/confusion). Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI. Taper gradually to discontinue. Seek urgent care for severe allergic reaction, irregular heartbeat, fainting, or serotonin syndrome symptoms.
