Elicia 8 mg Tablet contains Blonanserin (8mg). It belongs to the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) class of medicines.

How Elicia 8 mg Tablet works

Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases serotonin levels in the brain by inhibiting its reuptake into nerve cells, helping improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.

How to take Elicia 8 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Elicia 8 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, a severe fall in blood pressure, abnormal movements and heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Elicia 8 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Elicia are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• nausea
• headache
• dry mouth
• sleepiness
• insomnia
• dizziness
• fatigue
• increased sweating
• diarrhea
• constipation
• decreased appetite
• sexual dysfunction (decreased libido
• delayed ejaculation)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Prescription medicine. Do not discontinue abruptly (withdrawal symptoms). May increase suicidal thoughts/behavior in children, adolescents and young adults especially early in treatment; monitor mood changes. Risk of serotonin syndrome (agitation, fever, sweating, tremor) especially with other serotonergic drugs. May cause hyponatremia/SIADH (more in elderly/diuretics). Use caution in seizure disorders, bipolar disorder/mania, bleeding disorders, liver impairment and glaucoma. Can affect ability to drive if drowsy/dizzy. QT prolongation risk is lower than some SSRIs but caution in existing heart rhythm issues and with QT‑prolonging drugs.

Do not take Elicia if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart disease, Parkinson's disease or dementia.

Interactions with other medicines

MAO inhibitors (contraindicated), linezolid/methylene blue, other serotonergic drugs (triptans, tramadol, lithium, tryptophan, St John’s wort), anticoagulants/antiplatelets/NSAIDs (increased bleeding risk), other QT-prolonging medicines, CNS depressants/alcohol, CYP2C19 inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole) may increase escitalopram levels.

How to store Elicia 8 mg Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Elicia 8 Tablet should be taken with food or after food. It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you. Inform your doctor if you have a history of suicidal thoughts in the past. Do not stop taking medicine without talking to your doctor first.
