How Emolene Cream works

Propylene glycol acts as a humectant that attracts and retains water in the stratum corneum. It hydrates and softens the skin and helps restore the skin barrier, reducing scaling and dryness.

How to take Emolene Cream

Apply a thin layer to affected areas 1-3 times daily or as advised, especially after bathing. For external use only; avoid contact with eyes and broken/infected skin unless prescribed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Emolene Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is not a realistic risk from a moisturiser used on the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Emolene Cream

Most side effects of Emolene are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Apply Emolene Cream immediately after bathing, while the skin is still slightly damp, to help lock in moisture. Use it at least twice daily or as often as needed to keep the skin soft and hydrated. Apply a generous but even layer over dry areas; gently spread without rubbing harshly. Use mild, soap-free cleansers instead of harsh soaps, as they can worsen dryness. Avoid very hot showers or baths, as hot water can strip natural oils from the skin.
