Composition of FML NEO Liquifilm

FML NEO Liquifilm contains Fluorometholone (1mg/ml) + Neomycin (3.5mg/ml) + Benzalkonium (0.04mg/ml). It belongs to the Corticosteroid + aminoglycoside antibiotic class of medicines.

How FML NEO Liquifilm works

Fluorometholone is a corticosteroid that reduces ocular inflammation, redness and swelling. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis to treat susceptible bacterial infections.

How to take FML NEO Liquifilm

Use only as prescribed by an ophthalmologist. Shake well before use. Typically instill 1 drop in affected eye(s) 2-4 times daily; taper as advised. Avoid touching dropper tip; keep 5-10 minutes gap from other eye drops.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from eye use; flush the eye with clean water if too much is instilled. It is unlikely from skin use. It is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing an antiseptic is dangerous and needs immediate medical attention. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of FML NEO Liquifilm are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for viral (herpes simplex), fungal or mycobacterial eye infections. Prolonged use can raise intraocular pressure and cause glaucoma/cataract; regular eye pressure checks may be needed. Stop and seek care for severe pain, worsening redness, swelling, rash or vision changes. Use caution with contact lenses (generally avoid during infection).

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the preservative in the preparation. Not for use in or around the eyes. Not for use on large burns or deep wounds without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Other topical ophthalmic drugs (separate by 5-10 minutes); concomitant ocular corticosteroids (additive IOP increase); neuromuscular blockers with systemic aminoglycosides (theoretical, unlikely with eye drops)

How to store FML NEO Liquifilm

Store below 25°C, protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed. Discard 4 weeks after opening unless label states otherwise.

Expert advice for FML NEO Liquifilm

Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for a minute after instilling — this keeps the drop in the eye and reduces the bitter taste. Leave five minutes between two different drops. Never share eye drops with anyone. Wash your hands before and after applying, and cover the area if advised. Do not share towels or bedding while an infection is active. Clean the wound under running water first, then apply. Cover a clean wound with a sterile dressing and change it if it becomes wet or dirty.
