A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Fusibest Cream. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Fusibest Cream contains Fusidic Acid (2% w/w). It belongs to the Topical antibacterial class of medicines.
Treatment of Bacterial skin infections
Fusibest Cream is an antibiotic. It works against bacteria that cause skin infections by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins necessary for the survival of bacteria. Thus, it prevents the skin infection from spreading.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Fusibest Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.
An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Fusibest are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Use it for the short course prescribed, usually about a week. Prolonged use of a topical antibiotic breeds resistant bacteria. See a doctor if the area becomes more red, swollen, painful or spreads, or if you develop a fever — a spreading skin infection needs tablets. Clean the area gently before each application. Do not use it on large raw areas or burns unless your doctor has said to.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use in or around the eyes.
No significant interactions are expected from preparations used on the skin.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
Clean and dry the affected skin before applying Fusibest Cream, and apply a thin layer to the affected area. Wash your hands before and after applying Fusibest Cream to help prevent the spread of infection. Avoid contact of Fusibest Cream with the eyes, nose, or mouth, and rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings or tight bandages unless your doctor advises you to. Use Fusibest Cream for the full duration prescribed, even if the skin appears to improve earlier. Stop using Fusibest Cream and consult your doctor if you develop a rash, blistering, or worsening irritation. Inform your doctor if the infection worsens or returns after stopping Fusibest Cream. Do not use Fusibest Cream on infants or large/deep wounds without consulting your doctor.
