Gabawell 300 Tablet contains Gabapentin 300 mg. It belongs to the Gabapentinoid (antiepileptic) class of medicines.

How Gabawell 300 Tablet works

Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant/neuropathic pain medicine that binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the nervous system. This reduces release of excitatory neurotransmitters and decreases abnormal nerve signalling, helping relieve neuropathic pain and control seizures.

How to take Gabawell 300 Tablet

Tablet/capsule for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed; usually taken 1–3 times daily, with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow with water; take at the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly—dose should be tapered under medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness and slowed breathing, especially with an opioid or alcohol. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Gabawell are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• peripheral edema (swelling)

• weight gain

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause dizziness and sleepiness—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know the effect. Do not stop abruptly (risk of withdrawal symptoms and seizure worsening). Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment needed). Monitor for mood changes, depression or suicidal thoughts; seek medical help if they occur. Use caution in elderly (falls, sedation). Seek urgent care for allergic reactions/angioedema, severe rash, breathing problems, or unusual muscle pain/weakness.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), opioids (e.g., morphine) (increased sedation/respiratory depression), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption—separate by at least 2 hours), sedating antihistamines/benzodiazepines (additive sedation)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Take the larger part of the dose at night if drowsiness is a problem. Rise slowly from sitting or lying, especially in the first weeks. Keep your review appointment so the dose can be adjusted to the lowest that controls your pain.
