How Imxia-At Solution works

Imxia AT 5% Solution is a combination of three medicines: Minoxidil, Azelaic Acid and Tretinoin which treat hair loss. Minoxidil is a vasodilator, meaning it widens the blood vessels and provides better blood flow to the hair follicles. This prevents hair loss and stimulates re-growth resulting in longer, thicker and increased numbers of hair. Azelaic Acid is a naturally occurring acid which reduces the levels of dihydrotestostrone, a hormone that triggers hair loss. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A. It works by promoting the growth of hair follicles on the scalp.

How to take Imxia-At Solution

Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Imxia AT 5% Solution, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a fall in blood pressure and a racing heart when far too much is applied to the skin. It can cause severe irritation when far too much cream is applied; an oral retinoid taken in excess can cause headache, vomiting and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Imxia-At are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Imxia-At Solution

Warnings and precautions

Topical minoxidil causes a burst of shedding in the first two to eight weeks. This is the old hair making way for new — it is expected, not a failure. Results take three to six months, and stop when you stop. This is a continuing treatment, not a cure. Finasteride must not be handled or taken by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant — it causes birth defects. Do not let a pregnant person handle broken or crushed tablets. Apply topical treatments to a dry scalp, not to hair, and wash your hands afterwards. Tell your doctor about any chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or sudden weight gain with minoxidil. Acne often looks worse for the first two to four weeks before it improves. This is expected — do not stop. Use sunscreen every day. These medicines make the skin burn much more easily. Oral isotretinoin must never be taken in pregnancy — it causes severe birth defects. Reliable contraception and the pregnancy tests your dermatologist requires are essential before, during and after the course. Start with alternate nights and build up, and do not use more than a pea-sized amount for the whole face. Do not combine several strong acne actives at once without advice — the irritation compounds.

Do not take Imxia-At if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use on inflamed, broken or sunburnt scalp. Oral retinoids are absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy and in anyone who might become pregnant without a pregnancy prevention programme. Topical retinoids are avoided in pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Avoid applying other scalp products at the same time of day unless advised. Do not combine with other peeling agents or with waxing and harsh scrubs. Oral retinoids must not be combined with tetracycline antibiotics.

How to store Imxia-At Solution

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Imxia-At Solution

Imxia AT 5% Solution is used to increase hair growth and prevent further hair loss. Do not shampoo your hair or use a hairdryer for 4 hours after applying Imxia AT 5% Solution as it can reduce the effectiveness of the medicine. Take care that Imxia AT 5% Solution does not trickle down onto your face as it may cause undesirable facial hair growth. Your hair growth may start to improve within a few months, although it can take up to a year or so for you to notice the full benefit. You will need to continue treatment to maintain this effect. During the first 2 weeks of application, your hair fall may increase. This is normal and is a sign that Imxia AT 5% Solution is working. Along with taking Imxia AT 5% Solution, take a healthy diet, sleep for a minimum of 6-7 hours at night, and reduce stress levels in order to prevent hair loss.
