Composition of Maxgalip At

Maxgalip At contains Amitriptyline + Pregabalin. It belongs to the Antidepressant and Gabapentinoid class of medicines.

Uses of Maxgalip At

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Nerve pain
  • Migraine prevention
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Pain after shingles
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Epilepsy

Benefits of Maxgalip At

In Depression
Maxgalip At restores the balance of the brain's chemical messengers, gradually lifting mood, energy, sleep and appetite. The benefit builds over several weeks, which is why it is important to keep taking it.
In Anxiety
Maxgalip At calms persistent worry and the physical tension that goes with it, so that everyday situations feel manageable again.
In Obsessive compulsive disorder
Maxgalip At reduces the intrusive thoughts and the urge to repeat rituals, usually alongside talking therapy.
In Nerve pain
Maxgalip At dampens the pain signals from damaged nerves, easing burning, shooting or tingling pain that ordinary painkillers do not touch.
In Migraine prevention
Maxgalip At, taken every day, reduces how often migraines come and how severe they are. It does not treat an attack once it has started.
In Diabetic neuropathy
Maxgalip At eases the burning, tingling and numbness in the feet and hands caused by diabetic nerve damage, improving sleep and comfort.
In Pain after shingles
Maxgalip At relieves the persistent, sensitive pain that can linger in the skin after a shingles rash has healed.
In Fibromyalgia
Maxgalip At reduces the widespread pain and improves the sleep disturbance of fibromyalgia.
In Epilepsy
Maxgalip At steadies the electrical activity in the brain, reducing how often seizures occur when taken alongside other anti-epileptic medicines.

How Maxgalip At works

This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Amitriptyline and Pregabalin. Amitriptyline restores the balance of the chemical messengers in the brain that regulate mood, sleep and the way pain is felt. Pregabalin calms the over-active nerve signals that cause burning, shooting and tingling pain.

How to take Maxgalip At

Use this medicine as your doctor has directed. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause fits, dangerous heart rhythm disturbance and coma, and is particularly dangerous with the older tricyclic medicines. It can cause deep drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness and slowed breathing, especially with an opioid or alcohol. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Maxgalip At

Most side effects of Maxgalip At are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:

  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness or difficulty sleeping
  • Headache
  • Weight change
  • Reduced sexual desire
  • Constipation
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Swelling of the ankles and feet
  • Weight gain
  • Blurred vision
  • Unsteadiness

Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

These medicines take two to four weeks to begin working, and longer for the full effect. Stopping at two weeks because nothing has changed is the commonest mistake. Never stop suddenly. Abrupt withdrawal causes dizziness, electric-shock sensations, irritability and flu-like symptoms — your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Tell your doctor or go to hospital immediately if thoughts of harming yourself appear or worsen, particularly in the first weeks or after a dose change, and especially in anyone under twenty-five. Seek urgent care for agitation with fever, shivering, a racing heart, muscle twitching or confusion, particularly if more than one medicine affecting serotonin is being taken. Side effects are usually worst in the first fortnight and then settle. This medicine causes drowsiness and unsteadiness, particularly when you start it or the dose goes up. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Never stop it suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, sweating and, in people taking it for epilepsy, fits. Your doctor will taper it. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. The dose is usually built up slowly from a low starting point — follow the schedule your doctor gave you rather than jumping to the full dose. Pregabalin comes under Schedule H1 from 16 November 2026 and will then need a prescription and a pharmacy register entry.

Do not take Maxgalip At if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be combined with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, or started within the gap your doctor specifies after one.

Interactions with other medicines

Tramadol, triptans for migraine, linezolid, St John's wort and other antidepressants can together raise serotonin dangerously. Anti-inflammatory painkillers and blood thinners increase the bleeding risk when combined with this group. Opioid painkillers, alcohol, sleeping tablets and antihistamines all add to the drowsiness, and the combination with opioids can dangerously slow breathing. Antacids reduce the absorption of gabapentin — separate them by a couple of hours.

How to store Maxgalip At

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Quick tips for Maxgalip At

  • Give it a fair trial of several weeks, and keep your review appointments.
  • Take it at the same time each day.
  • At night if it makes you drowsy, in the morning if it disturbs sleep.
  • Talking therapy alongside medicine works better than either alone for most people.
  • Take the larger part of the dose at night if drowsiness is a problem.
  • Rise slowly from sitting or lying, especially in the first weeks.
  • Keep your review appointment so the dose can be adjusted to the lowest that controls your pain.
