Minicycline Lb Capsule contains Minocycline (as Minocycline Hydrochloride) + Lactic Acid Bacillus (strengths unknown). It belongs to the Tetracycline antibiotic + Probiotic class of medicines.

How Minicycline Lb Capsule works

Minocycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby stopping bacterial growth. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore healthy intestinal flora and may reduce diarrhoea during/after antibiotic therapy.

How to take Minicycline Lb Capsule

Take the capsule exactly as prescribed. Swallow whole with water; it may be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Avoid taking at the same time as antacids/iron/calcium or dairy; keep a 2–3 hour gap. Complete the full course even if you feel better.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. It may cause bloating and loose motions. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Seek urgent care for severe allergy, persistent diarrhoea, severe headache/visual changes (intracranial hypertension) or signs of liver injury.

Do not take Minicycline Lb if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Probiotics are used with caution in people whose immune system is significantly suppressed.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium, calcium supplements, iron/zinc (reduced absorption), dairy products (reduced absorption), isotretinoin or other retinoids (increased risk of intracranial hypertension), warfarin (may increase anticoagulant effect), penicillins (may reduce bactericidal effect), oral contraceptives (may reduce efficacy in some cases), methoxyflurane (nephrotoxicity risk), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/carbamazepine (may reduce antibiotic levels)

How to store Minicycline Lb Capsule

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep in original blister/strip and out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Minicycline Lb Capsule

Space the doses evenly and complete the course. Take tetracyclines with a full glass of water and stay upright for half an hour afterwards. Never use a leftover antibiotic, or someone else's, for a new illness. Keep up fluids and oral rehydration salts. Return to a normal diet as soon as you can manage it.
