Composition of Montasma-Fx

Montasma-Fx contains Montelukast (10mg) + Fexofenadine (120mg). It belongs to the Leukotriene receptor antagonist + Second-generation antihistamine (H1 blocker) class of medicines.

How Montasma-Fx works

Fexofenadine is a non-sedating antihistamine (H1 blocker) that reduces histamine-mediated allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching and watery eyes. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks leukotrienes responsible for inflammation, mucus production and nasal blockage.

How to take Montasma-Fx

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, usually once daily (often in the evening) with water; can be taken with or without food. Avoid taking with fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) and keep a gap from antacids containing aluminium/magnesium.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Montasma FX Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Montasma-Fx

Most side effects of Montasma-Fx are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• dizziness
• drowsiness (rare)
• nausea
• stomach pain
• diarrhoea
• dry mouth
• fatigue

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Montasma-Fx

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in liver disease. Montelukast has been associated with mood/behaviour changes (agitation, anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression, suicidal thoughts); stop and seek medical help if such symptoms occur. Not meant for acute asthma attacks. If you have kidney disease, heart rhythm issues, or are elderly, use under medical advice. Do not exceed prescribed dose.

Do not take Montasma-Fx if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. The sedating antihistamines are not suitable for very young children, or for people with glaucoma or an enlarged prostate, without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce fexofenadine absorption),fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) reduce fexofenadine absorption,rifampicin may reduce fexofenadine levels,gemfibrozil may increase fexofenadine levels,other sedatives/alcohol may increase dizziness (though fexofenadine is usually non-sedating)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Montasma-Fx

You have been prescribed Montasma FX Tablet to help relieve symptoms of allergy, such as a runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, and cough. Be cautiouswhile driving or doing anything that requires concentration, as Montasma FX Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drink alcohol while taking Montasma FX Tablet, as it may cause increased sleepiness. Stop taking Montasma FX Tablet at least three days before taking an allergy test, as it can affect the test results.
