Ocid Dsr Capsule contains Omeprazole 20 mg (enteric-coated) + Domperidone 30 mg (sustained release) capsule. It belongs to the Proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole) + Dopamine D2 antagonist prokinetic (Domperidone) class of medicines.

How Ocid Dsr Capsule works

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist that enhances gastric motility and helps relieve nausea and reflux symptoms.

How to take Ocid Dsr Capsule

Oral capsule. Usually taken once daily 30 minutes before breakfast; swallow whole without crushing or chewing (SR/enteric-coated). Use as directed by a doctor; do not take more than prescribed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause confusion, blurred vision, sweating and a fast heartbeat. It can cause drowsiness, disorientation and abnormal muscle movements. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for immediate relief of acute heartburn. Long-term PPI use may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, fractures, and intestinal infections. Domperidone may cause QT prolongation/serious arrhythmias—use caution in heart disease, electrolyte imbalance, elderly, or with QT-prolonging medicines. Avoid in severe liver impairment; use caution in kidney disease. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, vomiting blood/black stools, unexplained weight loss, or difficulty swallowing.

Do not take Ocid Dsr if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with bleeding, blockage or perforation of the gut, or with certain heart rhythm disorders.

Interactions with other medicines

QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, quinolones, macrolides), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir) increase domperidone levels; digoxin; warfarin (monitor INR); clopidogrel (possible reduced effect with omeprazole); methotrexate (high dose), phenytoin, diazepam; drugs needing acidic pH for absorption (e.g., ketoconazole, erlotinib)

Expert advice for Ocid Dsr Capsule

Take it before breakfast, not after a meal. Eat smaller meals, avoid late dinners, raise the head of your bed and avoid smoking — these do as much as the tablet for reflux. Take it shortly before meals for bloating and early fullness. Sip fluids frequently in small amounts, and use oral rehydration salts if you have been vomiting.
