How Oilatum Cream works

Oilatum Cream is an emollient that forms an occlusive layer on the skin to reduce transepidermal water loss. It softens and hydrates dry, cracked skin and helps restore the skin barrier, reducing irritation and itch.

How to take Oilatum Cream

For external use only. Apply a thin layer to affected areas 1–3 times daily or as needed, especially after bathing. Can be used on face and body; avoid contact with eyes and broken/infected skin unless advised by a doctor.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Oilatum as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Oilatum than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Oilatum Cream

Most side effects of Oilatum are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• redness
• itching
• rash
• folliculitis (rare)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, or allergic reaction occurs. Avoid use on acutely inflamed, weeping or infected skin unless directed. Use caution on slippery surfaces after application. Keep away from flames/heat sources if clothing/bedding becomes impregnated with paraffin-based emollients (fire risk).

Interactions with other medicines

No clinically significant drug interactions known for topical emollients; avoid applying at the same time on the same area with other topical products unless advised (may alter absorption/tolerability).

How to store Oilatum Cream

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
