How Olan-10 works

Olan 10 Tablet is an atypical antipsychotic. It works by affecting the levels of chemical messengers (dopamine and serotonin) to improve mood, thoughts and behavior.

How to take Olan-10

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Olan 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, a severe fall in blood pressure, abnormal movements and heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Olan-10 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Report any tremor, stiffness, restlessness or uncontrollable movements of the face, tongue or limbs to your doctor promptly — these can become persistent if not addressed. Seek emergency care for high fever with severe muscle stiffness, confusion and sweating. This is rare but life-threatening. These medicines can raise blood sugar, cholesterol and weight. Your doctor will monitor them — keep those appointments. Never stop suddenly; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Take care in hot weather — this group affects how your body regulates temperature.

Do not take Olan-10 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart disease, Parkinson's disease or dementia.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and sedatives add to the drowsiness. Tell your doctor about any medicine that affects heart rhythm.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
