How Prothrix Solution works

Prothrix Solution is a potassium channel opener. Its vasodilation action expands the blood vessels. Therefore, when it is applied to the scalp, it helps to increase blood flow. This increased blood flow provides more nutrition and oxygen to the hair follicles, which prevents hair cell death and also enhances new hair growth. This is how it works to treat your alopecia (hair loss).

How to take Prothrix Solution

Use this medicine as your doctor has directed. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a fall in blood pressure and a racing heart when far too much is applied to the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Topical minoxidil causes a burst of shedding in the first two to eight weeks. This is the old hair making way for new — it is expected, not a failure. Results take three to six months, and stop when you stop. This is a continuing treatment, not a cure. Finasteride must not be handled or taken by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant — it causes birth defects. Do not let a pregnant person handle broken or crushed tablets. Apply topical treatments to a dry scalp, not to hair, and wash your hands afterwards. Tell your doctor about any chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or sudden weight gain with minoxidil.
