Saridon New Tablet contains Paracetamol 250 mg + Propyphenazone 150 mg + Caffeine 50 mg (per tablet). It belongs to the Non-opioid analgesic combination (Paracetamol + analgesic/antipyretic + CNS stimulant) class of medicines.

How Saridon New Tablet works

Paracetamol reduces pain and fever by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Propyphenazone is an analgesic/antipyretic that further reduces pain and fever. Caffeine enhances analgesic effect and helps relieve headache by improving response to pain medicines.

How to take Saridon New Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as advised by doctor; commonly 1 tablet as needed for pain/fever, preferably after food with water. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose and avoid taking other paracetamol-containing products simultaneously.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. It can cause stomach bleeding, kidney failure, drowsiness and fits. It can cause a racing heart, tremor, vomiting and agitation. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Do not exceed recommended dose (risk of liver damage due to paracetamol). Use with caution in liver disease, chronic alcoholism, kidney disease, gastric irritation/ulcer history, and in people sensitive to pyrazolones (risk of allergy). Stop and seek medical help if rash, breathing difficulty, swelling, severe abdominal pain, or signs of liver injury occur. Not recommended for prolonged self-use; consult a doctor if pain/fever persists. Keep out of reach of children.

Do not take Saridon New if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe liver disease, except under medical supervision. Not for people with an active stomach ulcer, severe kidney or heart failure, or asthma triggered by aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Not in the third trimester of pregnancy. Not for anyone with an uncontrolled heart rhythm problem, unless a doctor has said otherwise.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol, other paracetamol-containing medicines, warfarin/other anticoagulants (with prolonged regular use), enzyme inducers (rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital), isoniazid, metoclopramide (may increase absorption), cholestyramine (may reduce absorption), other caffeine sources/stimulants

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original pack.

Take the lowest dose that works, and leave the stated gap between doses. Seek help immediately after a suspected overdose, even if you feel completely well — treatment works best when it is early. Use the lowest dose for the shortest period. If you need a painkiller regularly, see your doctor rather than continuing on your own. Paracetamol is the safer choice for simple fever and headache. Avoid taking it in the evening if it disturbs your sleep. Cutting down suddenly after taking it daily can itself cause a headache for a day or two.
