How Silveron Gel 20 g works

Silver sulfadiazine releases silver ions and a sulfonamide component that act against a broad range of bacteria. It inhibits bacterial growth and reduces the risk of wound infection in burns.

How to take Silveron Gel 20 g

For external use only. Clean the affected area as advised, then apply a thin layer to cover the burn/wound once or twice daily or as directed by the physician. May be applied under a sterile dressing; wash hands before and after application.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Silveron Gel, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing an antiseptic is dangerous and needs immediate medical attention. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Silveron Gel 20 g

Most side effects of Silveron are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Do not use if allergic to sulfonamides or silver-containing products. Stop and seek medical advice if severe irritation, rash, fever, or signs of allergy occur. Not recommended for premature neonates or infants <2 months due to risk of kernicterus. Use only on doctor’s advice in large area application.

Interactions with other medicines
