How Tacrosoft Ointment works

Tacrosoft 0.03% Gel is an immunosuppressant. It works by suppressing the activity of certain immune cells that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin. This relieves itching and improves rashes in atopic dermatitis.

How to take Tacrosoft Ointment

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Tacrosoft 0.03% Gel, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

If you take too much

Taking more Tacrosoft than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Tacrosoft Ointment

Most side effects of Tacrosoft are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

How to store Tacrosoft Ointment

Store Tacrosoft below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Expert advice for Tacrosoft Ointment

Tacrosoft 0.03% Gel is effective at treating eczema (atopic dermatitis) when other treatment options have failed. Apply thinly to affected areas of skin only. Clean the affected area and dry well before applying Tacrosoft 0.03% Gel. Avoid contact with water after application. Inform your doctor if there's no improvement even after two weeks of treatment, or if the skin gets worse. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Stop using Tacrosoft 0.03% Gel and consult your doctor if your eczema becomes infected. Continuous long-term use of the ointment should be avoided. Use as prescribed by your doctor.
