Terbinafine 250 mg (tablet)
Treatment of fungal infections such as onychomycosis (fungal nail infection), tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch) and tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) when systemic therapy is required.
Terbinafine is an antifungal (allylamine) that inhibits the enzyme squalene epoxidase in fungi. This blocks ergosterol synthesis and leads to buildup of toxic squalene, causing fungal cell death.
Take orally as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and swallow with water. Duration depends on site of infection (skin typically weeks; nail infections often several weeks to months); do not stop early without medical advice.
Common side effects of TERFINE 250 may include:
Prescription medicine. Rare but serious liver injury has been reported—avoid in active/chronic liver disease; baseline and periodic liver function tests may be advised. Stop and seek medical help if symptoms of liver problems occur (persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, jaundice, unusual tiredness). Rare severe skin reactions and blood disorders can occur. Use caution in kidney impairment, psoriasis, or lupus. If dizziness occurs, avoid driving/operating machinery.
