Composition of Thrombophob Gel

Thrombophob Gel contains Heparin (as Heparin sodium) 200 IU/g, Benzyl Nicotinate 20 mg/g. It belongs to the Topical anticoagulant (heparin) + vasodilator (benzyl nicotinate) class of medicines.

How Thrombophob Gel works

Heparin is an anticoagulant that helps prevent further clot formation and supports resolution of superficial clots and bruising. Benzyl nicotinate increases local blood flow (vasodilation), improving absorption and reducing pain and inflammation at the site.

How to take Thrombophob Gel

For external use only. Apply a thin layer over the affected area and gently massage 2–3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Do not apply on open wounds, eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes; wash hands after use.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Thrombophob as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Thrombophob than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Thrombophob Gel

Most side effects of Thrombophob are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• local irritation
• allergic reaction

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Avoid use on broken/infected skin or bleeding lesions. Stop and consult a doctor if severe irritation, rash, or signs of allergy occur. Use cautiously in people with bleeding disorders or on anticoagulant therapy; avoid large-area application or prolonged use unless advised. Seek medical advice if swelling/pain is severe, sudden, or associated with breathlessness (possible deep vein thrombosis/embolism).

Interactions with other medicines

Systemic absorption is usually low, but caution with anticoagulants/antiplatelets (e.g., warfarin, heparin injections, aspirin, clopidogrel) due to potential increased bleeding risk if used excessively over large areas.

How to store Thrombophob Gel

Store below 25°C. Keep cap tightly closed. Protect from heat, light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
