Vopraz 20 mg Tablet contains Vonoprazan 20 mg. It belongs to the Potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) class of medicines.

Treatment of acid-peptic disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis; healing and prevention of gastric/duodenal ulcers; used as part of therapy for H. pylori eradication when prescribed in combination with antibiotics.

How Vopraz 20 mg Tablet works

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that directly and reversibly inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump). It suppresses stomach acid rapidly and for a longer duration compared with conventional PPIs, helping relieve acidity and promote ulcer/erosion healing.

How to take Vopraz 20 mg Tablet

Take tablet by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration depends on the condition (e.g., GERD/ulcer healing or as part of H. pylori regimen).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause confusion, blurred vision, sweating and a fast heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Vopraz are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in severe liver disease; dose adjustment/medical advice may be needed. Long-term acid suppression may increase risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, and gastrointestinal infections (e.g., C. difficile); seek care for persistent diarrhoea. Consult doctor if alarm symptoms occur (vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing). Do not self-medicate for prolonged periods.

Interactions with other medicines

May reduce absorption of medicines that require an acidic stomach (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole, erlotinib, iron salts). May increase exposure of digoxin; monitor if used together. Caution with CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers (e.g., clarithromycin, rifampicin) which may alter vonoprazan levels. Inform doctor about all medicines including antiplatelets/anticoagulants.

How to store Vopraz 20 mg Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Take it before breakfast, not after a meal. Eat smaller meals, avoid late dinners, raise the head of your bed and avoid smoking — these do as much as the tablet for reflux.
