Human insulin (Biphasic isophane) 50% soluble insulin + 50% isophane (NPH) insulin, 100 IU/mL
Diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2) requiring insulin therapy for control of blood glucose; used when a premixed insulin regimen is advised
Biphasic insulin 50/50 contains short-acting soluble insulin for meal-time glucose control and intermediate-acting NPH insulin for basal control. It increases peripheral glucose uptake and reduces hepatic glucose production, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
For subcutaneous use only using the insulin cartridge in a compatible pen device as advised by the doctor. Usually taken 1–2 times daily, typically 30 minutes before meals. Roll/tilt gently to resuspend before use; rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, upper arm). Do not use if solution has clumps or does not become uniformly cloudy after mixing.
Common side effects of WOSULIN 50/50 100IU INJ CAR may include:
Risk of hypoglycaemia—monitor blood glucose regularly and carry fast-acting glucose. Dose adjustments may be needed with changes in diet, exercise, illness, stress, kidney or liver impairment. Do not share pens/cartridges/needles. Use caution while driving/operating machinery if prone to hypoglycaemia. Seek urgent help for severe allergy (breathing difficulty, swelling) or repeated severe lows. Not for IV use; do not mix with other insulins unless advised.
