How Xt Para Suspension works

Paracetamol reduces fever by acting on the temperature-regulating centre in the brain (hypothalamus). It also helps relieve pain by decreasing the formation of pain‑causing chemical messengers (prostaglandins).

How to take Xt Para Suspension

Oral suspension: shake well before use and measure the dose with a calibrated spoon/cup/dropper. Give the dose as advised by a doctor based on the child’s weight/age; doses are usually spaced 4–6 hours apart. Can be taken with or without food; do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Xt Para as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Xt Para than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Xt Para Suspension

Most side effects of Xt Para are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• vomiting
• stomach pain
• diarrhoea
• rash
• allergic reaction
• raised liver enzymes (rare)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Xt Para Suspension

Warnings and precautions

Do not use more than the recommended dose or combine with other paracetamol-containing medicines (risk of liver damage). Use with caution in liver disease, chronic alcohol use, malnutrition or dehydration. Stop and seek medical help if rash, swelling, breathing difficulty or persistent fever/pain occurs. Avoid prolonged use without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol, warfarin/other anticoagulants (with prolonged use), enzyme inducers (rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital), isoniazid, zidovudine, probenecid

How to store Xt Para Suspension

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
