Composition of Zandu Balm

Zandu Balm contains Menthol, Camphor, Eucalyptus oil, Wintergreen oil (Methyl salicylate), Ajwain oil (Thymol). It belongs to the Topical counterirritant (camphor/menthol/methyl salicylate & essential oils) class of medicines.

How Zandu Balm works

Zandu Balm is a topical counter-irritant. Ingredients like menthol and camphor create a cooling/warming sensation and help reduce the perception of pain, while methyl salicylate and essential oils provide local analgesic and anti-inflammatory action. Eucalyptus oil may help relieve stuffy nose when inhaled.

How to take Zandu Balm

For external use only. Apply a small amount on the affected area (forehead/temples for headache; muscles/joints for pain) and gently massage 2–3 times daily or as needed. For cold, apply on chest/throat/back or use small quantity for steam inhalation as directed on label. Wash hands after use; avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Zandu Balm as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Zandu Balm than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Zandu Balm

Most side effects of Zandu Balm are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Do not apply on broken/irritated skin, wounds, or near eyes/nose/mouth. Stop use if severe irritation or allergy occurs. Avoid tight bandaging or heating pads over the area. Keep out of reach of children; if swallowed seek medical help. Use with caution in children and in people allergic to salicylates/aspirin; consult a doctor if pain persists or in pregnancy/breastfeeding.

Interactions with other medicines

May increase risk of bleeding/side effects if used excessively with anticoagulants/antiplatelets (e.g., warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel) due to methyl salicylate absorption; avoid combining with other topical counter-irritants on same area

Store at room temperature (below 30°C), tightly closed, away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep away from moisture.
