How Zathrin Readymix 100 works

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops bacterial growth and helps clear the infection.

How to take Zathrin Readymix 100

Oral suspension (ready mix). Shake well before each use and measure with a proper measuring cup/spoon. Give the dose exactly as prescribed (often once daily) and complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Can be taken with or without food; taking with food may reduce stomach upset.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections. Do not use if allergic to azithromycin/erythromycin/macrolides. Use with caution in liver disease, history of jaundice with azithromycin, myasthenia gravis, and in patients at risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias (electrolyte imbalance, existing heart rhythm disorders, use of QT-prolonging drugs). Seek medical help for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe skin reactions, or signs of liver problems (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).

Do not take Zathrin Readymix if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to macrolide antibiotics, or with certain heart rhythm disorders.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (separate dosing), warfarin and other anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk), digoxin (increased levels), cyclosporine, statins (rare myopathy risk), other QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/fluoroquinolones)

How to store Zathrin Readymix 100

Store at room temperature below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Zathrin Readymix 100

Your child must complete the entire course of this medicine. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Give Zathrin-XL 100 Readymix with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Zathrin-XL 100 Readymix will not be effective for viral infections. However, the doctor may prescribe this medicine in case of a secondary bacterial infection. So make sure to speak to your child’s doctor first. Only give Zathrin-XL 100 Readymix to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop the medicine and contact the doctor immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, and breathing difficulties soon after the intake.
