Composition of Zevert-16

Zevert-16 contains Betahistine (16mg). It belongs to the Histamine analogue (H1 agonist/H3 antagonist) class of medicines.

How Zevert-16 works

Betahistine is a histamine analogue that improves microcirculation in the inner ear. It is thought to reduce endolymphatic pressure and improve vestibular compensation, thereby decreasing vertigo symptoms.

How to take Zevert-16

Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet with water at the same time each day; do not crush/chew unless advised. Continue regularly; it may take a few weeks for full benefit.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Zevert MD 16 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Zevert-16

Most side effects of Zevert-16 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• nausea
• indigestion
• stomach pain
• headache
• bloating
• vomiting

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Interactions with other medicines

Antihistamines (may reduce effect of betahistine), MAO inhibitors including selegiline/rasagiline (may increase betahistine levels/effects)

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
