Azithromycin 250 mg (as azithromycin dihydrate) tablet
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections (e.g., uncomplicated chlamydial urethritis/cervicitis) as prescribed.
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops bacterial growth and helps the immune system clear the infection.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Can be taken with or without food; take with food if it causes stomach upset. Swallow with water at the same time each day and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Common side effects of ZITHROX 250 TAB may include:
Use only for bacterial infections (not for viral cold/flu). Inform doctor if you have liver disease, history of jaundice with antibiotics, myasthenia gravis, slow/irregular heartbeat, low potassium/magnesium, or known QT prolongation. Stop and seek medical help if severe diarrhea, allergic reaction (swelling, breathing difficulty), or severe skin rash occurs. Dose adjustment/caution may be needed in hepatic impairment.
